Welcome to MindFx - an integrated best practice and innovation service for young adults, aged 18-27 years, with a lived experience of mental illness and addiction. We are committed to providing better recovery pathways for those individuals affected. Our community-based centres provide a more efficient recovery model using co-ordination and a co-location approach of activities and best practice providers. We will not only look at what is available now but will also be driving new services to meet gaps in recovery from mental illness for young adults and their carers. Those seeking help are free to choose the services/activities that are of interest them.

OUR VISION, MISSION, VALUES AND BENEFITS

Vision

To rebuild confidence, a sense of community and purpose for young adults (18 -27 years) presenting with a lived experience of mental illness and addiction, through supporting them in a nurturing environment with access to best practice integrated services that align with their needs and aspirations.

Mission

Empowering young adults (18-27) presenting with a lived experience of mental illness and addiction to live full and productive lives in the community. Our mission is to significantly shorten (and to eventually break) the current hospital-home-hospital-home cycle of despair and to empower young adults with a lived experience of mental illness to live full and productive lives in the community.

Values

  • Respect
  • Non-Judgemental
  • Trust
  • Integrity
  • Reliability
  • Inclusion
  • Person-focused.

Benefits

  • Improved engagement in holistic recovery – strengths-based client directed recovery plan, focused on health literacy, personal responsibility, and resilience, with return to employment through involvement in community and social enterprise/study, and carer education and support in a community environment
  • Reduction in hospital readmissions - due to caseworker follow-up using a health coaching model and consumer engagement, accessing evidence-based services that support recovery
  • Faster recovery – supporting medication and therapeutic compliance plus offering the individual something meaningful to do, through volunteering or employment support
  • Financial and social – reduced cost of care, impact on family and the economy

At MindFx, you will be supported in building a solid foundation of knowledge to help manage your illness and know you are so much more than your diagnosis, despite perceived stigmas. We will also work closely with your loved ones, carers and/or parents to support them and help them do the best they can to understand your illness and support you. We will give you the tools and knowledge needed to build positive, stress-free relationships with those closest to you.

A strong community of peers, service providers, mentors and volunteers will also offer you a wealth of new information, hope for the future and a sense of belonging. At MindFx, we promote an inclusive and non-judgemental vibe, where connections and friendships form easily, and the natural opportunities for social engagement within our programs provide the basis for long-term mutually- supportive relationships.

Our aim is to have you feeling happier, healthier, and more confident to take on life’s challenges. At MindFx, you will discover better recovery pathways leading you to a bright future.
